Female Circumcision
When coming to this topic in class I was fairly quiet, because I wanted to get a females perspective on it. Gender equality in this nation problem as it is, but its sad to see what many suffer around the world. Kopelman touched on this topic saying that there are two thoughts of relativism. I will attempt to explain the difference between disputable and non dubious thoughts of relativism .The dubious relativism is the view that individuals from different societies/backgrounds act indifferent ways and have different standards. In my opinion These differences might not be respected, but they should be acknowledged. A disputable relativism is a belief that can be universal that many can agree on. Kopelman’s ideas reveal that for one to have a complete objective view a societies standards it is simply impossible. Why? We’ll simply we have grown and already have establishes our MO’s. Now in the case of female mutilation, it can be seen with moral relativism. It was proven that this practice is completely hazardous and has no benefit to a female, moreover it can be traumatizing. With research and time a ratite like this can be seen even if someone has bias, because it proven by science that is is harmful and cause permeant damage. One can then have an opinion on another societies relativism for a belief of wrong becomes universal.
